Pond & Fountain Pumps

Ponds and fountains  are one of the most calming additions to a garden. They are a highly rewarding addition to any garden and can even be created on a patio. Ponds can be made to offer an excellent environment to help promote the breading of frog's, which are under further pressure for habitat in our environment today. Flowing water in the garden is very relaxing, and in Japanese culture, said to bring good luck. We are able to supply all your requirements of pond linings and pumps. Some general points to remember when choosing a pond pump.

• Circulate complete water volume of the pond at least every 1-2 hours
• To choose your pump you need to know how high and how much water is required
• It is easier to slightly restrict the pump flow, than not to have enough water flowing
• Don't forget filtration, if you have a high number of fish it is a must.
• Include lighting in your plans, this gives another dimension to your pond.

Water lift is measured from the top of the water surface in the pond. to where the water is to come out. The easiest method of estimating how much water per hour is required is to use the garden hose to give the desired effect. Slowly increase the water flow until the water is at least what is required from the pond pump. Then without changing the tap setting, measure how long in time it takes to fill a known quantity container. i.e.. it takes 30 seconds to fill a 20 litre container. This gives 40 litres per minute or 2400 litres per hour. If this was at 800mm in height above the water surface of the pond, the pump required would be the S3000, which is able to supply 2600 litres per hour at 0.8 metres, which is just above the requirements.
